Getafe confirm Vazquez deal

Getafe have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Espanyol to sign forward Alvaro Vazquez.

The promising Under-21 international has been in dispute with Los Periquitos this summer over unpaid wages and a failure to agree an extension to his current deal expiring next year.

Whilst Mauricio Pochettino continued to involve him in first-team affairs, he was heavily linked with a sale during this window.

Getafe have confirmed that the persistent rumours of their interest have now materialised into a deal, posting a note on their website this afternoon.

“Getafe and Espanyol have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player, Alvaro Vazquez. The player will sign with Getafe for the next four seasons,” read the message.

Getafe are reported to have paid €5m to secure the youngster’s signature. Vazquez’s arrival almost certainly paves the way for Dani Guiza’s departure.
