Maicon and Debuchy on Real radar

Real Madrid are reportedly on the market for a new right back, with Lille's Mathieu Debuchy and Inter's Maicon linked.

Just days after completing a deal for Luka Modric the Merengues remain keen to make additions to their squad.

One position Coach Jose Mourinho wants to strengthen in is right back, in order to provide competition for Alvaro Arbeloa.

And according to Marca the Portuguese has two players in mind – Frenchman Debuchy and Brazilian Maicon.

Debuchy's club Lille want to hold onto him but Real are reportedly ready to make them an offer of €12m. At the moment the player is carrying an ankle injury picked up during France's friendly with Uruguay, which could complicate matters. He has also been the subject of bids from Newcastle this summer.

Maicon meanwhile, has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for a number of years.

The transfer never materialised due to his large price tag but with the Selecao star now aged 31 and no longer an automatic starter at San Siro he could arrive in Madrid before the transfer window closes, with a swap deal involving Los Blancos midfielder Lassana Diarra apparently on the agenda.
