Soldado: Sort out sandy pitch

Valencia striker Roberto Soldado has criticised the Mestalla pitch after his side's 3-3 draw with Deportivo La Coruna last night.

Los Che romped into a 3-1 half-time lead in the late kick off but were held to a frustrating draw having conceding twice to the newly promoted Galicians after the break.

“The grass is a worry,” Soldado confessed to SuperDeporte. “Two of our players were injured, and I don't know if its because of that, but it looks very strange, there is lots of sand.”

Soldado's boss Mauricio Pellegrino also touched on the issue last night, stating diplomatically that it 'was the same for both teams.'

“I'm angry because the goal was to get three points,” continued the striker, who hit two of his team's three goals. “We know how important it is to get points at Mestalla, and we have lost two in the very first home game.”

Valencia, currently 12th in the standings, travel to Camp Nou to face Barcelona next weekend.
