Mourinho lays into Real Madrid

Jose Mourinho was scathing in his criticism of his Real Madrid players after they threw away a 1-0 lead at Getafe to lose 2-1 in Week 2.

Mourinho’s side were defeated by the odd goal at a ground that they had won at on their last three visits and it leaves them with just a single point from the opening two rounds of League action.

“Getafe deserved to win. Some of my players are telling me that there was a handball from Colunga in the build-up to the second but I do not care,” asserted the Portuguese to reporters.

“Getafe’s win is deserved and that is even though they did not do anything special. And yes, Real Madrid have been very bad.

“It is an unacceptable performance and it was one of those games where I am not frustrated because the result is not a surprise to me, in terms of what I saw during the game.

“I’ve not spoken to the players yet, they do not have the feedback from what I think and what I have analysed, I have to talk to them.

“The only conclusion that I want to make is that it was as much a defeated merited for Real Madrid as it was a victory earned by Getafe.

“Getafe were very good from set-pieces and very competitive as they were last year. We were bad.”
