Vilanova: Barca’s win valuable

Tito Vilanova tries to explain why he was sent from the dugout against Osasuna, as he takes value from the three points Barcelona earned on Sunday.

La Blaugrana picked up a win in Pamplona today – at a ground where they had lost in the previous season – but they were made to work for it and it was not with controversy.

“The game was very competitive and we did have some clear chances to score a goal,” he told reporters post-match.

“We knew it would be a difficult game and it was difficult to create chances on occasion.

“But, with the chances we created we managed to win, even if we have not played well.

“You have to give value to this win because we have the ability to raise ourselves in a game like this. In this field you know when you fall behind it will be twice as hard.”

Vilanova, when the score was 1-0 to the home side, was sent from the technical area for taking his complaints with the assistant referee too far.

“I didn’t say anything out of line, I only told the linesman that there was a very clear mistake, he told me not to protest and I answered that I am not complaining, I was only pointing out that there was a mistake.

“With this expulsion we are aware, we know the level at which referees will eject Coaches in La Primera.”
