Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez thought his team was ‘superior and worthy winners’ after the 2-1 victory over Real Betis.

Leo Baptista set up Piti’s opening goal then scored the winner after Jorge Molina’s equaliser to give Rayo maximum points from their opening two La Liga fixtures.

Even so, Jemez refused to get carried away with the 100 per cent start to the season.

“We can’t go overboard because we have won two from two and maybe next week we’ll be able to say it’s three from three, but this is nothing more than a beginning,” the former Cordoba Coach told a Press conference.

“However, we were superior and worthy winners against a team that you cannot allow to control the game.

“If we had gone out to play in spectacular fashion then we would be talking about another game and another result.

“With teams who are theoretically superior you have to play that way, otherwise you have no chance.

“The fact is that we deserved to win and it shows that if we play like that then we will be difficult to beat.”
