Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff has hit out at Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho ahead of the Super Cup first leg at Camp Nou tonight.
Mourinho, who has long been nicknamed 'The Special One', recently claimed he should instead be referred to as 'The Only One' – due to his winning of League titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain.
However, former Barca player, Coach and board member Cruyff believes former Blaugrana assistant Coach Mourinho is just trying to make up for his lack of a playing career.
“As a player he was not up to much and now he can do something,” the Dutchman told AS. “How else do you make sense of someone calling themselves 'The Only One'?
“It is good to put that name on a jersey, but nothing more. I do not like that sort of behaviour.”
Cruyff also argued that Barcelona's fans must wait before judging new boss Tito Vilanova's time in charge of the Catalan club.
“He must show his worth when times are bad. We must wait to make a decision. It is not the same as being in the background with Pep Guardiola in front. That is something different.”
Cruyff had choice words for current president Sandro Rosell.
“His philosophy is not the same as mine. I have no connection with his regime.
“He cannot use my name for his campaigns. With him, I do not see at all that Barca is 'more than a club',” the outspoken 65-year-old concluded, invoking the club's famous slogan.
Barca and Real's Super Cup first leg clash kicks off at 22.30 CET this evening.
