Song ‘will settle in Spain’

Former Mallorca and Valladolid midfielder Daniel Kome has given his backing to international teammate Alex Song’s move to Barcelona.

Kome, who has also had spells in La Liga with Levante and Getafe and has based his entire playing career in Spain, is a teammate of Song’s with the Cameroon national team.

He believes that the midfielder, who is set to complete a €19m move from Arsenal to Barca on Monday, is well-suited to the Spanish game.

“Alex combines strength with good technique. His best quality is that he does not make life complicated, he always chooses the easy option,” Kome told COMRadio today.

“I’m happy for him, I sure he will have no trouble adapting to his new team. He gives it everything.

“One of his best qualities is his assists for goals. He is going to fight for a starting spot, that is for sure. He can play in midfield but also at centre-back, that is for sure.

“On a personal level he is unique, he creates an atmosphere in the dressing room, but without problems.

“He always has a smile and at Arsenal has never had one conflict in the dressing room.”
