Siqueira renews with Granada

Guilherme Siqueira has agreed a contract extension at Granada that sees him tied to the Andalusians until 2017.

It brings to an end a summer of dispute between player and club after Siqueira was allegedly accused of trying to engineer a move away from Los Carmenes after reported interest from Valencia.

A story in Granada Hoy maintains that the Brazilian left-back has now made his peace with El Grana, although at the moment the agreement is only a verbal one.

However, the 26-year-old denied he had ever fallen out with the Granada hierarchy.

“Forcing my departure would have been disrespectful towards the club, the city and the supporters,” he was quoted as saying.

On the other hand, club President Quique Pina declared last month that Siqueira had ambitions of moving to a bigger club, and was even prepared to let him go should a suitable offer have been received.

“The player asks to leave us every day because he feels he should be playing for a big club,” revealed Pina.

“Therefore, we will smooth his departure providing we receive a good offer, which has so far not happened.”

Siqueira’s new deal will see him awarded a salary increase and the value of his rescission clause raised, although the figure was not revealed.
