Rayo confirm Chori Dominguez deal

Rayo Vallecano director of football Felipe Minambres has confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Chori Dominguez from Valencia.

Dominguez has reached an agreement with Los Che to rescind the remaining year of his contract at Mestalla after spending last season on loan at River Plate.

The 31-year-old becomes the Madrid club’s seventh acquisition of the summer following the arrivals of goalkeeper Ruben Martinez, defenders Jordi Amat and Alexander Galvez, midfielders Adrian Gonzalez and Jose Carlos Fernandez and Danish striker Nicki Bille Nielsen.

Also able to operate on the right wing, Chori began his career with Argentine outfit Quilmes and earned a move to River Plate in 2001.

However, after three years in Buenos Aires he then tried his luck in Russia with Zenit St Petersburg and Rubin Kazan before signing for Valencia in December 2009.

Dominguez is believed to have rejected offers from abroad, including a return to former club Rubin Kazan, and will take a substantial pay cut to join the Madrid outfit.
