Juventus also want Muniain

After confirming they want Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente, Juventus are also reported to want his teammate Iker Muniain.

According to Tuttosport, the Serie A giants plan to make a move for young midfielder Muniain, who Juve boss Antonio Conte has already dubbed the ‘Basque Messi’, at the same time they open negotiations for Spanish international Llorente.

The 19-year-old has been a revelation at San Mames since making his debut in a Europa League qualifying match against Young Boys in 2009, becoming the youngest player ever to wear the Athletic shirt at 16 years, seven months and 11 days old.

The Italian club’s director general Giuseppe Marotta has admitted there will be an attempt to prise Llorente away, although the €35m rescission clause in the player’s contract could make any deal prohibitive.

It could, however, be difficult to see how both could be lured to Turin given that Muniain, who made his debut for Spain in a 5-0 win over Venezuela in February, has his own rescission clause of a whopping €45m.
