PSG still on David Villa’s trail

Reports in France insist Paris Saint-Germain are considering a lucrative offer to prise striker David Villa away from Barcelona.

The cash-rich Ligue 1 club have just signed Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli for €26m and boss Carlo Ancelotti has asked director of football Leonardo for a top-notch frontman to partner him, and the French club are prepared to do anything necessary to bring Villa to Paris.

Money is no problem for PSG, who want to rub shoulders with the greats of European football next season, but they face opposition from Juventus whose boss Antonio Conte is also a great admirer of the 30-year-old and would like him for the club’s return to Champions League football.

However, Barcelona have consistently stated that El Guaje is not for sale and will reject any offers for him as he looks to get back to full fitness following a broken leg suffered in the World Club Championship last December.
