Eric Abidal’s agent believes the he could yet make an emotional return to the Catalan’s first team following his liver transplant.
The Frenchman had surgery to remove a tumour on his liver in March 2011 and went on to make 22 La Liga appearances last term, but having suffered further problems at the beginning of 2012 he was forced to undergo a transplant in April this year.
However, the player’s representative David Venditelli believes Abidal’s career can still get back on track after doctors expressed their satisfaction at the way the 32-year-old’s recovery is coming along.
“Eric’s recuperation is on the right track although we are unable to fix a date for his return to football,” Venditelli told Catulunya Radio.
“The doctors say his body is getting better every day and his spirits remain high.”
