Spain’s women’s side began their World Cup with a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica on Tuesday.
Vicky Losada gave La Roja the lead in the 13th minute of the Group E meeting but Raquel Rodriguez equalised moments later.
Spain went in search of a winner but Costa Rica goalkeeper Dinnia Diaz proved equal to the attempts of Igancio Quereda’s side.
The other game of Group E saw Brazil beat South Korea 2-0, with both matches taking place in Montreal’s Olympic Stadium.
