Alonso in line for South Africa

Xabi Alonso has recovered from a knock picked up at the weekend and is seen as in line to start for Spain against South Africa tonight.

La Roja are back at Soccer City for a friendly against Bafana Bafana this Tuesday evening, which marks the team’s return to the stadium where they won the 2010 World Cup Final.

Vicente del Bosque has indicated in training that Nacho Monreal is in line for a start and will be accompanied 10 others who were present in South Africa just over three years ago.

Real Madrid midfielder Alonso took a full part in a second consecutive training session, after picking up a heavy knock to his ankle during the weekend win in Equatorial Guinea.

Javi Martinez also continued recovery from a knee issue sustained during initial preparations in Las Rozas last week by training normally on Monday night.

One non-World Cup winner in Nacho Monreal is expected to start.
